Explore Australia’s North West, from Darwin, through the Kimberley and Karijini National Park and down the remote West Coast.

We will have you swimming in pristine waterholes, discovering the World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungles, exploring rugged desert gorges, kicking back on endless white sandy beaches, snorkelling over colourful coral reefs, telling tall stories round a campfire under a sparkling night sky… and much more! Day 1 Katherine

Heading down from Darwin, we stop at either Edith Falls for a swim, or explore majestic Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge, part of the Nitmiluk National Park, depending on season. After lunch we start our journey to the Katherine region where we will stay overnight. (LD)

Day 2 Victoria River Region & Lake Argyle

Take off for Lake Argyle; an artificial lake created by the Ord River Dam. Admire the beauty and sheer size of this 700 square kilometre man made spectacle. The lake is home to many species of native fish and thousands of freshwater crocodiles. Take some time and explore the area before we set up camp for the night. (BLD)

Days 3-4 Purnululu National Park: Bungle Bungles

Pausing in Kununurra we head south where it is time for some 4WD action as we wind our way into the Bungle Bungle sandstone massif! The ride in is bumpy, but the scenery is fantastic and you will have the chance to enjoy your first Kimberley sunset as we set up our bush camp./ Day 4 involves a full day of exploration. The rock formations of the Bungle Bungles massif are remarkable and we visit breathtaking Echidna Chasm and magnificent Cathedral Gorge. There’s an opportunity to view the Bungles by helicopter (own expense) before we return to camp. (BLD/BLD)

Days 5-6 El Questro Station

We travel out of the Bungles to El Questro Station. Sit back and admire the awesome scenery of the Carr Boyd and Durack Ranges as we head to Turkey Creek and onto El Questro to set up camp. We spend the day exploring the amazing sights of El Questro station highlights include a hike in the beautiful Cockburn Ranges for a swim under the waterfall at Emma Gorge before another night at our El Questro campsite where you might choose to enjoy a well-earned beer at the station bar. Day 7 Gibb River Road & Mt Barnett

We start our journey over the Pentecost River and along the famous Gibb River Road. Today is all about swimming and hiking in the Kimberley! You’ll visit striking Manning Gorge, where your experienced guide will use their local knowledge to determine the most accessible spots to explore. Tonight’s camp is at Mt Barnett. (BLD)

Day 8 Manning Gorge & Windjana Gorge

This morning we will take a plunge at either Galvins or Adcock Gorge, depending on the time of year. Later we make our way to Windjana Gorge, known for its abundant freshwater crocodiles, so bring your camera and get some snaps of these incredible reptiles. Windjana Gorge is also our camp for the night. (BLD)

Day 9 Tunnel Creek

A visit to the Napier Range reveals the fascinating 750 metre underground cave at Tunnel Creek; an area rich in bushranger history. Our local Bunuba guide will take us through this remarkable tunnel, sharing the cultural hertage of the area and the story of the Bunuba warrior hero, Jandamarra. Next we set off for Broome, but not before stopping briefly at Willare Bridge to see the rushing torrent of water that flows along the mighty Fitzroy River (seasonal). We arrive in Broome late afternoon. With any luck you’ll be just in time to catch a brilliant Cable Beach sunset. (BL)

Days 10-11 Broome

With 3 free days here in Broome there is plenty of time to sit back and relax on the beautiful Cable Beach or get out and about and explore the area. Take a 1/2 Day Broome Sights Adventure to discover the heritage and culture of this unique outback town or venture up the Dampier Peninsula on a 1 Day Cape Leveque Adventure With 22 km of white sand and crystal waters it’s also the ideal place to watch the sunset! (Meals and activities on these days are at own expense)

Day 12 Eighty Mile Beach & The Pilbara

Departing Broome we cross the Great Sandy Desert, calling in at the coastal oasis of Eighty Mile Beach along the way where we can take a stroll along the beautiful white sand beach. We travel further South through Port Hedland checking out the enormous iron ore industry before setting up camp for an overnight station stay in the Pilbara Region where you’ll get to know your fellow travelers around the campfire. Days 13-15 Karijini National Park

This morning we make our way to the remote but spectacular Karijini National Park, where we spend the next three days exploring the ancient gorges and stunning swimming holes. We begin our Karijini experience with a visit to the Karijini Cultural Centre before heading for Fortesque Falls where you will be rewarded with a refreshing swim. The next two days are spent exploring, swimming and relaxing in the magnificent Karijini gorges. Bring your camera as you’ll want to remember this forever. One of the oldest landscapes on earth – the region will continue to amaze you. We will explore a number of gorges including Weano Gorge, Oxers Lookout, Hancock Gorge, amongst others. Overnight camp in Karijini. (BLD/BLD/BLD).

Days 16-18 Exmouth & Coral Bay

Leaving Karijini, we travel through the vast bush land and station country on our way to Exmouth and onto our accommodation for the night – our semi-permanent camp on the beautiful Yardi Creek Station. Enjoy a day of freedom and relaxation. Go snorkeling (equipment provided) or diving, search for whale sharks (seasonal and at own expense) or view Vlamingh Head Lighthouse then choose to laze on the pristine beach at Turquoise Bay and soak up the sunshine. On the afternoon of Day 17 we make the short trip to beautiful Coral Bay Spend the entire day snorkeling the world famous Ningaloo Reef and seeing the marine life that lives under the waterline. Alternatively, thrill-seekers can choose one of the many optional activities including quad biking, coral viewing cruises and scuba diving (at own expense). (BLD/BLD/BD)

Day 19 Carnarvon & Shell Beach

Heading south we cross the Tropic of Capricorn and pass through the town of Carnarvon, famous for its bananas. We call in at unique Shell Beach – made up entirely of tiny shells before continuing on to Monkey Mia where you will be able to say hello to the famous wild dolphins that live here. (BLD)

Day 20 Monkey Mia, Shark Bay & Kalbarri National Park

Time this morning to visit your new best friends, the dolphins, before exploring the Shark Bay World Heritage area. We stop to view the stromatolites – the oldest living organisms in the world – before heading South for Kalbarri. Time permitting we will be able to view the Murchison Gorge and Natures Window this afternoon before arriving in this seaside resort town. (BLD)

Day 21 Pinnacles Desert & Perth

Departing via the coastal gorges of the Kalbarri National Park, we head to the beautiful seaside town of Dongara before travelling South through the fascinating landscape of the Nambung National Park and checking out the famous Pinnacle Desert. We then make our way to Perth arriving in the early evening where our tour concludes. (BL)
